Non-intrusive and non-invasive measurement

The meter does not require the installation of devices inside the pipe, which makes it safer, faster and easier to install. In addition, this meter does not interfere in the process or cause pressure drop.

Easy installation

Installation of the piezoelectric tube is simple and does not require significant modifications to the pipeline.

Low cost

Reduces the cost of equipment, maintenance and calibration compared to other meters.

High accuracy

Provides accurate and consistent measurements, making it particularly useful in critical applications.

Wide application range

Suitable for liquids, gases and vapors, with the ability to measure both low and high flow rates.

The problem-solution approach

Accurate measurement of fluid flow is essential in many industrial applications. However, the variety of meters available can present some challenges, such as: pressure drop, fluid contamination / sharp corners and high costs.

The search for a non-intrusive and non-invasive solution that is accurate led to the measurement method discussed in the patent.

What is it?

The invention describes an assembly and method for measuring fluid flow that eliminates the need for intrusive or invasive meters. The innovation uses a piezoelectric tube equipped with electrodes which, when subjected to fluid flow, generate vibrations proportional to the flow rate. These vibrations are picked up and processed electronically, allowing precise estimation of the flow rate without interfering the process.

How it works

The piezoelectric tube is installed in the pipe and connected to a charge amplifier. When the fluid flows through the tube, the vibrations caused by the flow are picked up by two electrodes attached to the outer surface of the tube. The signals are then amplified and digitized to be processed by a computer, which calculates the flow rate based on the vibrations detected. This method provides precise results without affecting the process.
